For this month in December of 2016, M. Kotler is featuring one of our city’s hidden treasures at Haulover Park which includes Haulover Beach among other events and activities.

Haulover Park is on a 99 acres of land that covers 1.4 miles from North Bal Harbour, Florida until you reach Sunny Isles, Florida. It is located between the Atlantic ocean and intracoastal waterways with pristine white sand, picnic areas, sand dunes, open ocean surf and beautiful coastal vegetation.

Haulover Park is also has a variety of recreational activities from fishing, bike rentals (Electric Bike), boat rentals (Haulover Marine Center), Kite Flying (Skyward Kites), Dog Park and Beach (Haulover Beach).

One of Haulover most famous activities is includes Kite Flying as Haulover Park’s location that make it ideal for this activity as mentioned below by Miami-Dade’s Park, Recreations and Spaces:

Recognized as one of the best places for people to fly kites in South Florida, the open space and ocean breezes of Haulover Beach Park make it the ideal location for flying kites.

Skyward Kites has been in operation for over 20 years and boasts the largest selection of kites, windsocks and wind spinners in Miami, from $5 and up; in all shapes and sizes, from diamonds and deltas to Para-foils and box varieties. They can also create a custom kite according to your desired specifications.

With the addition of a state-of-the-art, solar-powered concession trailer in 2009, designed and custom-built by owner Dan Ward, the kite shop now also has ice-cream treats and cold drinks available for purchase. Plan your next birthday party or event with kite-flying fun. Open from 10 a.m. to sunset, seven days a week (closed on Christmas Day) and located on the southeast corner of the Bill Bird Marina parking lot.

Near the same location for flying kites at Haulover Beach Park you can join with the community every Tuesday night from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Bill Bird Marina for food and fun under the stars. Our food truck round-up features an assortment of foods and treats offered by local food truck vendors along with music and entertainment for the whole family. Parking is free; pets (except for service animals) and glass containers are prohibited.
